Emmanuel Tuffuor, the CEO of Koora Sports Consult, affectionately known as ‘Koora,’ has unveiled the ambitious goal of the upcoming Inter-Regional Athletics Competition to be held in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The event, organized by Koora Sports Consult Limited in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service, is scheduled for December 4th -5th, at 4:00 PM.
The seasoned athlete and sports consultant, Tuffuor, expressed his enthusiasm for the competition in an exclusive interview on Happy FM,stating, “This isn’t the first I have organized such competitions, and I have seen the number of talents which has been unearthed in the process. The Koora Inter-Regional Athletics competition will aim to discover talents for the upcoming All African Games next year because we have lots of talents in athletics, and we can aim high for even the Olympic Games.”
Tuffuor, 56, a former athlete who won silver in the 200m at the 1988 and 1991 African Championships in Algeria and Mauritius, respectively, followed by another silver in the 1995 African Games in Zimbabwe, emphasized the importance of leveraging his experience to make athletics more attractive in the country.
The Inter-Regional Athletics Competition has garnered significant support and attention, with distinguished guests set to grace the occasion. The Guest of Honor for the event will be Hon. Simon Osei Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Minister. Other notable figures in attendance will include AMB. Edward Boateng, Director-General of SIGA, Prof. Peter Twumasi, Director of the National Sports Authority; Hon. Mustapha Ussif, the Sports Minister; Eric Nkansah, Director-General of the Ghana Education Service and Dr. Ben K. Asante, CEO of Ghana Gas.
The Inter-Regional Athletics Competition serves as a crucial platform for young and aspiring athletes to showcase their skills and potentially earn a spot to represnt Ghana in the prestigious 2023 All African Games slated for next year.
