Injunction against #DumsorMustStop Vigil dropped

DumsorMustStopDemo: New date and venue announced amid court injunction

The High Court in Accra has dismissed an application for an injunction aimed at stopping the #DumsorMustStop vigil from taking place at the Revolution Square, opposite the Jubilee House, after organizers voluntarily changed the gathering point and route for the event, rendering the injunction unnecessary.

During a prior meeting with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, the organizers of the #DumsorMustStop vigil had a disagreement over the starting point for their protest.

The police subsequently filed an injunction against them, citing concerns that the chosen location was too close to the Jubilee House, posing potential security risks.

In court today, Friday, May 24, the court case was dismissed after the parties reached an agreement, allowing for a change in venue, rendering the injunction unnecessary.

Selorm Dramani Dzramado, a convener of the #DumsorMustStop vigil, announced that the organizers have voluntarily changed the venue to comply with the Public Order Act.

He clarified that the court has not yet given final approval for the vigil and that a new meeting with the police is scheduled, effectively restarting the permitting process.
