The competition between the two major political parties namely the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) for parliamentary seats has been a tough one, with about 28 NPP Members of Parliament (MP) losing their seat in Monday’s elections.
Apart from the fact that 41 of them lost the primaries earlier this year thus did not contest for the elections, about 21 of those who have lost their seats are ministers of state or deputy ministers.
The list of MPs who lost the elections in their constituencies on December 7 is as follows:

The Upper East Regional Minister Paulina Abayanye (who is not an MP) lost the elections in the Navrongo Constituency.
