The Deputy Communication Director of the National Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbe has said that it was important for Government to increase tariffs in order to develop the country.

He was speaking in an interview on Happy FM’s “Epa Hoa Daben” show with Nana Afrifa Mensah.

“The increase in tariffs was necessary for Ghana’s progress. I believe the increase is not exorbitant as that of previous Governments. This is a contribution that all Ghanaians need to make for a better future of the country”, he said.

Mr. Richard Ahiagbe was speaking to the recent increase in water and electricity tarrifs that began from 1st October.

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) announced an increase of 5.94% in electricity tariffs and 2.22% increase in water tariffs.
