Immigration officers clash with Shia residents leaving two people in a critical condition

Officers of the Ghana Immigration service have clashed with Shia residents in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region leaving two in critical condition.

The leader of a youth, Ekro Yao revealed that the confusion started in the border community when immigration officers had a misunderstanding with some Okada riders in the area on November 14, 2024.

The issue escalated again on Friday, November 15, 2024 when armed immigration officers invaded the community around 4:00pm.

The youth and Shia residents who got agitated by the actions of the immigration officers responded by blocking roads leading to the office of the immigration officers and also set lorry tyres ablaze, according to eyewitness, kuzor Jonas.

The chaos left two residents injured and were rushed to a hospital for treatment.
