NPP General secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, has acknowledged facing a challenging period in his leadership following the party’s loss in the 2024 elections.
He stated that despite his struggles, he still relies on God for strength, although he does not understand the NPP’s defeat and the party’s difficulty in coming to terms with it.
Speaking in an interview he said, “As a party that lost an election, you are dealing with a lot psychologically, people saying all sort of things, the proposals and all reactions coming in is a lot but it is the work of God and He is the only one who understands and knows why things turned out this way”.
Mr. Frimpong Kodua expressed empathy for the pain and disappointment felt by party supporters following the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) loss in the 2024 general election.
He emphasized the need for the party to reflect on the defeat and draw lessons to guide its strategy for the 2028 election.
He disclosed that the NPP has established a committee to conduct a comprehensive review of the party’s loss in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.
The NPP’s attempt to secure a historic third consecutive term came to an end on December 7, 2024, as the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) achieved decisive victory, bringing former President John Mahama back to power.
