Minister designate for sports, Hon. Isaac Asiamah has disclosed that he will engage the Ghana Football Association in a bid to get a quota for local players in the Black Stars.
The Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua in the Ashanti Region said argued that one of the measures to help improve the local league was to create a local content for the Black Stars so that players in the local league will stay on a little longer with the hope of getting a look-in at the national team.
“I’ll engage the Ghana Football Association to consider local players in the Black Stars. This is what I’ll term as local content in the Black Stars and it is one of the ways of helping to keep players in our local league for longer periods because they’ll fancy their chances of playing for the Black Stars despite being local players.” Hon. Asiamah told the Parliamentary vetting committee.
Hon. Isaac Asiamah is the minister designate for Youth and Sports and looks set to be confirmed by the vetting system.
