Ghana’s quest for Olympic glory in the men’s 4x100m relay gained momentum as the potential starting lineup for the World Athletics Relays in Bahamas was revealed.
The team, currently ranked 15th in the world, will look to secure automatic qualification for the Paris Games during the competition on May 4th and 5th.
This comes after placing second at both the 2023 African Games and the Penn Relays, falling short to Nigeria and Jamaica respectively.
Following his absence at the Penn Relays, Benjamin Azamati rejoins the squad alongside Ibrahim Fuseini, Isaac Botsio, and Joseph Paul Amoah.
Expressing strong optimism, Ghana Athletics Vice President Charles Osei Osibbey in an interview on Happy Sports’ Wamputu Sports Jeffries Sintim Koree highlighted the athletes’ recent performances as a testament to their potential for individual and team qualification before the June deadline.
Vice President Osibbey unveiled the potential official starting lineup:
- Ibrahim Fuseini – First Leg
- Isaac Botsio – Second Leg
- Benjamin Azamati – Third Leg
- Joseph Paul Amoah – Anchor Leg
Osibbey urged corporate Ghana to step forward and support the athletes in their crucial Olympic qualifier. With a clear strategy and a powerful team, Ghana aims to secure its spot on the world stage in Paris.
