Newly elected Greater Accra Second Vice Chairman for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Eric Nartey Yeboah, known in politics as ‘Chairman Dollar’, has highlighted factors that engineered his victory in the just ended party elections.
According to him, he was the youngest candidate aspiring for the regional vice chair position. However, that didn’t deter him as he has planned for the position in his early days in politics.
In an interview with Don Kwabena Prah on Happy98.9 FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ socio-political talk show, Chairman Dollar reiterated he built a strong profile and relationship during his tenure as the Chairman for the Madina Constituency.
“Looking at the candidates, I was the youngest amongst them. One thing I’ve always believed in is the popular quote, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. The position didn’t come to me but I’ve always wanted to be elected into this position so I planned for it.
So that was the plan and I laid down the foundation to get here. So even though I was the Madina Constituency Chairman, I was like a regional rep to most of the constituencies. I have friends all over so when I said this election would be based on two things, that is competence and relationships, people didn’t understand,” he noted.
“Our slogan for the next general election is to ‘break the 8’ but how do will plan to achieve this? He quizzed as he indicated that his worthwhile experience in communication whipped the people together and believed he was the chosen one for the Vice Chairmanship position.
