Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has reaffirmed his commitment to upholding justice and ensuring fairness in Parliament and across the nation.
According to him, Ghana can only achieve desired growth by adhering to these principles.
He reiterated his commitment to holding parliamentarians accountable for their actions, ensuring they uphold high moral standards and discipline.
Ghana’s Parliament has faced intense scrutiny and criticism from the public over actions deemed “unparliamentary.”
In recent weeks, incidents such as chaos during vetting of ministerial nominees, the use of derogatory language in the House, and various acts of indiscipline have left many Ghanaians questioning the significance of the title “Honorable” reserved for MPs.
“I also know very well that in the holy book it is stated, spare the rod and spoil the child. The rod here is not just referring to the cane, it is referring to what is right, what is just and the rule of law and so that rod I will not spare and I will not spoil you. Ghana must be saved” he emphasized.
He urged parliamentarians to embody humility, integrity, and a strong commitment to service, just as Christ was celebrated for these virtues.
