Dreams FC Technical Director, Karim Zito, says he will be happy to see Asamoah Gyan in the Black Stars team ahead of the 2022 World Cup.
Gyan, who is Ghana’s all-time top scorer, has expressed his desire to play for the Black Stars at the upcoming FIFA World Cup to be staged in Qatar.
In an interview with the BBC’s John Bennett, Gyan admitted he is not fully fit at the moment and is working hard to be in good shape.
His wish to play at the 2022 World Cup has generated a lot of controversies with the public divided on whether he should be selected or not.
According to the former Black Satellites coach, Asamoah Gyan should prove that he is fit and ready for the World Cup by joining a club this season.
Speaking in an interview on Wamputu Sports on Happy FM, he said, “Asamoah Gyan is my best striker. He scored a world-class goal against Algeria at the AFCON and imagine if it was Messi the whole world would have celebrated him.
“We haven’t gotten any player at the national team to replace Asamoah Gyan. My problem has to do with his preparation and readiness. How prepared is he for the ultimate? When we talk about putting the ball into the net he is first to none in the current team. What is his preparation, if mentally he has prepared and the coach wants him I will be happy for him’.
“If he is ready he should register for the clubs and everybody will see he is ready”, he added.
