I was accused of colluding with the rival NPP - Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo on losing NDC chair position

Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, has expressed profound disappointment and lingering frustration over the circumstances surrounding his unexpected defeat in the party’s internal elections ten months ago. Despite his decades of commitment and dedication to the NDC, Ofosu-Ampofo was shockingly accused of colluding with the rival New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the contest, a claim he vehemently denies and believes significantly contributed to his loss.

He was ousted by Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who secured a landslide victory with an overwhelming 65.17% of the votes, compared to Ofosu-Ampofo’s 33.81%. The former chairman is still grappling with the aftermath, citing the widespread speculation, unfounded allegations, and malicious rumors made against him during the campaign.

He emphasized the need for the party to address such baseless propaganda and sanitize its internal election process to prevent similar situations in the future, ensuring a fair and transparent contest for all candidates.

Ofosu-Ampofo’s remarks highlight the lingering divisions and tensions within the NDC, underscoring the need for introspection and reform to foster a more inclusive and unified party environment.
