Ghanaian boxing legend, Joseph Agbeko has said that the over fixation on football by government and other stakeholders has diminished his love for the Black Stars.
According to the two-time world champion, he supports the Black Stars but at the same time doesn’t wish the team well because the success of the Black Stars mean government will continue to spend money on the team.
Agbeko told Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on Happy Sports that he doesn’t even watch the team again.
“I support Black Stars but sometimes I wish they will lose because government only cares about football. They don’t care about boxing and the other sports so it makes it hard for me to even wish the team well.”
“I can support the Black Stars but at the same time I don’t want them to progress because once they win, the government will continue sending more money on the team.”
Meanwhile, the return leg for Ghana’s game against Sudan will be played at Martyrs of February Stadium, Benghazi, Libya on Monday, October 14, 2024.
