President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo has revealed that he planned on appointing the late Member of Parliament, Ekow Kwansah Hayford as a minister in his second term as President. However, the murder of the MP has made this impossible.
He made this known when he paid a visit to the family of the slain Member of Parliament on Monday, October, 12th 2020.
Giving an update on the President’s visit to the family, Happy FM’s Central Regional correspondent, Yaw Boagyan reported that the President in his address stated that he had planned on making the late MP a minister when voted into power.
Meanwhile, the President commiserated with the family, assuring them that the late MP will receive a befitting burial.
President Nana Akufo-Addo was reported to have said: “Ekow Quansah Hayford was a very hard-working member of parliament, I had planned to make him a minister in my next government if I win the upcoming elections but unfortunately this development has come in.”
I will take care of the family, especially the widow and children, as long as I still remain President in this nation.
Due to his hard work, I had to stop whatever I was doing to visit the family to console you. I promise I will be present during his funeral as well”.
The Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency, Mr Ekow Kwansah Hayford was shot dead by unknown assailants while returning from a campaign tour on the Nkusukum Mankessim-Abeadze Duadze road in the Central Region at about 1am on Friday, October 9, 2020.
