I hope Ghana learns a lesson – Sudan coach Kwesi Appiah on 2025 AFCON draw

Coach Kwesi Appiah seals maiden victory with Sudan in International friendly

Head coach of the Sudanese national team, James Kwasi Appiah has said that Ghana should learn a big lesson after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations in Morocco.

According to Kwasi Appiah who played and coached the Black Stars, he would have love to see Ghana at the AFCON in December 2025 alongside Sudan but Angola picked up the spot.

He stated that football has evolved so powerhouses in Africa needs to learn that their place is not guaranteed and they need to put in the work like everyone else.

“When the draw placed Ghana in our group, I did several interviews where I said I hoped both Ghana and Sudan would qualify. Its unfortunate Ghana couldn’t make it.”

“As a Ghanaian I’m not happy about that but football has evolved and every country needs to prepare well for competitions. I hope Ghana learns from this and comes back stronger in future tournaments.”

Sudan has been paired in Group E in the 2025 African Cup of Nations alongside Algeria, Burkina Faso and Equatorial Guinea.
