President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated that his administration successfully resolved Ghana’s electricity crisis, popularly known as ‘Dumsor,’ before leaving office in January 2017.
Speaking during the State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Thursday, February 27, 2025, he stated that his leadership approach is not to complain or shift blame but to tackle challenges head-on, one of the key reasons Ghanaians elected him again as president.
Mahama highlighted Ghana’s current economic struggles, emphasizing that the 2024 election results reflected the people’s trust in his ability to restore the economy. He assured Ghanaians that, with his competent team, he is ready to address the country’s pressing challenges.
Reflecting on his past tenure, he noted that February 26, 2025, marked exactly 10 years since he stood in Parliament and pledged to fix ‘Dumsor’, a persistent power crisis at the time.
He maintained that he fulfilled that promise, stating on record that from January 2016 until his handover on January 7, 2017, Ghana experienced no power supply challenges under his administration.
