A political science lecturer of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Kwasi Amakye has said he does not expect Nana Akufo-Addo to deliver on his mandate as the president of the country.
He made these comments in reaction to the National Executive Council (NEC) of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) decision that aspiring Presidential candidates to pick nomination forms for GHS20,000 and pay GHS400,000 as filing fee per candidate.
Speaking on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show he linked the monetization of the democratic process to his expectations of Nana Addo’s failure as president because he believes the president spent a lot of money during his bid to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as flagbearer, the campaigning period as well as his failed attempts to become president.
‘’Nana Addo has lost several elections and he used money. Now is the time for him to recoup what he has lost. I am not surprised he is practising friends and family Government,’’ he said.
According to him, no country needs a financially resourceful person as a leader. What is needed is practical wisdom and a political will to take decisions for the general good of the country.
