‘I could hardly breathe’: Juventus star Paulo Dybala opens up on battle with coronavirus

Juventus forward Paulo Dybala has explained what his battle with coronavirus was like, after he and his girlfriend contracted the illness.

The Argentinian was the third Juventus player to be diagnosed after Daniele Rugani and Blaise Matuidi fell ill as the pandemic swept across Italy.

Serie A was the first European league hit by Covid-19, with matches first being played behind closed doors before the season was put on pause.

Dybala had already entered isolation when he and his partner Oriana Sabatini tested positive for the virus.

‘I developed strong symptoms, but today I already feel much better,’ he told Juventus’ official YouTube account.

‘Now I can move better, walking and trying to train. I could hardly breathe, I couldn’t do anything after five minutes.

The 26-year-old posted a picture on his Instagram with the caption ‘estamos bien’ letting his fans know he was feeling better on Wednesday.

Dybala was having a typically strong season, firing in 13 goals and providing 12 assists to contribute to Juventus’ title challenge, which could now all have been in vain with the Italian football season at threat of being cancelled.
