Executive Secretary of the Importers and Exporters Association, Sampson Asaaki Awingobit has stated that he wishes to contest as a presidential candidate on the ticket of the People’s National Convention (PNC) in order to unify the party.
According to him, the party has lost its relevance of a third political force in the country and as such it will only take someone like him to lead the party to greater heights.
He made these comments in an interview on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show.
“I can say my party is sinking. People even dont know tha PNC is alive. When people see my posters they ask if my party is alive.
Dr. Mahama has done well but we have lost miserably considering that PNC used to be the third political force with about three or four MPs in parliament. The number of votes has diminished in the party”, he said.
The PNC Flagbearer hopeful stressed that as an active member of the party, he has come to a realization that the party needs a new face ahead of the 2020 polls. He added that his background in business, puts him ahead of others in the implementation of policies for the growth of businesses in the country.
“I am David who came to flog Goliath in those days”,he touted
The National Secretariat of the People’s National Convention (PNC) is yet to announce a date for the party’s presidential primaries to elect a flagbearer ahead of the 2020 elections.
