Ghanaian Highlife Musician, Dada Hafco has advised Ghanaians to patronize highlife music rather than condemn it as a genre of music for elderly ones.

In an interview with Foster Romanus on the Late Nite Celebrity show, he stated:” Highlife is in our DNA as Ghanaians because everyone grew up listening to highlife. The unfortunate thing is most people don’t claim it. Lots of our musicians make highlife music but they don’t claim it. People think if you put yourself in that box, you are seen as a villager”.

According to him, Ghana must adopt the highlife music as its own because countries all over the world have genres peculiar to their culture.

In his opinion, promotion of highlife music is easier these days than before. He reminisced the days when all music done in Ghana were labelled as highlife music.

“Back in the day, most people were not into too many genres. A lot of people were doing too many genres as well but all of them were calling it highlife because nobody was standing up to challenge anybody”, he said.

He, however, noted that with the help of the internet, people are able to decipher what songs are highlife and what songs are not.

Dada Hafco is currently promoting his new single dubbed ‘Our Story’, which features Fameye.
