Police personnel numbering over 50 were deployed to the premises of the Ministry of Health to protect and facilitate peaceful protest by members of of the Coalition of Unemployed Allied Health Professionals. However upon arrival there were just about 20 protestors who were there to petition the Ministry of Health.
The Coalition of unemployed Allied Health Professionals on Monday 16th September, 2024 presented a petition to the Ministry of Health over the delayance of their postings.
The group prior to their petition announced that over two thousand (2000) of them will converge to pour out their displeasure.
The coalition encompasses the Medical Laboratory Scientists, Community Mental Health Workers, Disease Control Officers, Field Technicians, Optometrists and various other skilled professionals.
According to the group, they have been unemployed for five (5) years and have now given government a one week Ultimatum to post them.
The Convener for the group, Frederick Adjei says, for the past five (5) years, they have been renewing their Pins, which according to them is unfair, adding that, they will embark on another picketing in their numbers if, the Ministry of Health and Finance do not give them the needed clearance for them to be posted.
Fredrick Adjei says that, they have been informed by the Allied Health professionals council that, the monies paid annually as their pin renewal goes into the coffers of the Ministry of Health, adding that, if they are posted they will stop renewing their Pins annually.
