Former Hearts of Oak Chairman, Harry Zakour, has expressed concern over the club’s management.

According to him, he believes the current board members lack the necessary football expertise to effectively manage the club.

In an interview on Happy Sports with Ohene Bampoe Brenya, Zakour stated that Togbe Afede, the club’s current executive board chairman, means well but needs the right people around.

“Togbe Afede means well but he needs the right people to be able to run the club and take it to higher heights”.

He emphasized that the club’s problems stem from poor management rather than the technical team. Zakour noted that the constant sacking of coaches has not led to any significant improvement in the team’s performance.

“Hearts of Oak’s problem is the management and not the technical team. They have sacked coaches always but the result doesn’t change”.

Zakour’s comments come amid the club’s struggles in the just ended 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign, with Hearts of Oak narrowly escaping relegation.

The Phobians scraped by relegation, finishing the season just one point above the drop zone in 14th place with 45 points.

This disappointing outcome came despite a shake-up in March 2024, with the appointment of a new board comprised of ten highly respected professionals.

Looking ahead, the club, now under the guidance of experienced Ivorian manager Aboubakar Ouattara who joined late last season, will aim to recapture its past glory.
