Accra Hearts of Oak have announced the appointment of Serbian trainer Kosta Papic as the new head of coach of the club for the remainder of the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League campaign.
Coach Papic rejoins the Phobains for a second spell as helmsman after first playing a similar role in 2008-09 when he guided the Capital club to our last league title.
He takes over from Coach Edward Nii Odoom who has been in charge since last season and oversaw Hearts’ opening two games of this season against AshantiGold SC (2-2) and Inter Allies (0-1).
Coach Odoom will serve as one of the assistants at the club and will also be in charge of the youth setup, Auroras.
Coach Papic arrived in Ghana on Monday and watched our GPL Matchday Three clash with Inter Allies at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Serbian is expected to take charge of Hearts’ next GPL game, a Matchday Four encounter against Karela United FC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday evening.
The former eSwatini national team coach will be assisted in the dugout by Coach Asare Bediako who recently signed as an assistant at the club.
Coach Papic has been unattached after ending his contract with the senior national team of eSwatini last year, a role he took in 2018.
He has rich coaching experience in Africa having worked in South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria and Tanzania
