#HappySportsDialogue: Ex-GFA Technical Director Oti Akenteng speaks on the importance of scouting ahead of the World Cup

Former Ghana Football Association Technical Director Francis Oti Akenteng has shared his scouting experience with the Black Stars ahead of the World Cup.

Oti Akenteng in an interview on Happy Sports Dialogue on the World Cup series was speaking on the importance of Ghana scouting its opponents ahead of the tournament.

The former CAF/FIFA Instructor said he hopes the technical team has started scouting its opponent’s right after the World Cup playoffs in March.

He opened up on how he was made to scout some teams during Ghana’s participation in the previous World Cup tournament by then GFA president Kwaso Nyantakyi.

“In 2010 I stayed in Austria for about one month to understudy Serbia. Kwesi Nyantakyi made me stay for about one month just to watch the team going into the tournament in Germany.

“I also scouted the Portugal team as well in 2014 and if not for the winning bonus issues we would have done well. Coach Milovan Rajevac even gave me the opportunity to do some board work with the players in one of my scouting jobs’, he said on Happy Sports Dialogues.

Oti Akenteng also mentioned that the World Cup being played in the course of the season will help Otto Addo to select the right players.

“I know Otto Addo has watched the players and it’s a good thing that the season is going on. The only worry now is injuries.

Oti Akenteng added that he will be able to predict Ghana’s journey in the tournament after the game against Switzerland on November 17.

Ghana is in Group H of the tournament alongside Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
