With support from the Klottey Korley Municipal Assembly, Happy98.9FM will run this as a year-round campaign and devote its online and social media platforms to educate and engender the Ghanaian populace to buy into and support the clean Ghana agenda.
Programmes Manager for the brand, Elwoode Mantey, speaking at the launch of the Happy World Clean-Up Day indicated that the exercise does not only seek to clean the environment but also point others in the direction to do the same and make it a regular activity.
“On Saturday, September 18, the staff and listeners of HappyFM will all gather at the premises of the station, Asylum Down. The clean-up will start from Asylum Down then we move to other areas in the Klottey Korley municipality.”
With media resources at its disposal, Happy98.9FM with an on-air activation will also encourage persons who cannot join the team to use the opportunity to organize their community to clean their surroundings.
Elwoode Mantey citing a recent study on the correlation between sanitation and productivity to drum home his point on the importance of proper sanitation added, “In a clean environment, productivity is always high and one reduces the tendency of being struck down by malaria and cholera. This sanitation drive will be a nationwide activity which will also see our affiliates running it alongside us.”
He charged listeners to always remember that sanitation is not a one-day affair by an unending process with dedication and consistency as the sustenance factor.
