Happy FM climaxes Happy On Wheels with Drivers Summit

Ghana’s number one radio station, Happy 98.9FM held the last edition of 2019 ‘Happy on Wheels’ outdoor broadcasting with the maiden edition of Happy FM Drivers Summit in and around Circle Neoplan station Accra.

The community engagement initiative dubbed ‘Happy on Wheels’ which took place on Thursday, 19 December 2019 saw an engagement of drivers and people who ply their trade in and around the Neoplan station in Accra with presenters of Happy FM.

The maiden edition of the Happy Drivers summit was in line with the National Road Safety Commission Authority (NRSA)’s 2019 road safety campaign dubbed “Stop Road Accident Now, Before It Stops You”. The summit featured road safety experts from the National Road Safety Authority who educated drivers on road safety especially during this festive season. These experts also engaged the drivers by answering their questions in a satisfying and reliable way.
Chief Supt. Agnes Caesar encouraged drivers to give respect to the police on the road and also assured them of solutions to the problems they encounter with the police.

Also, Rev. Charles Kofi Nti and ACP Rtd. Victor Tandoh from the National Road Safety Authority advised drivers to be wary of the indiscipline they display on the roads especially during the festive season.

Drivers were appreciative of the advice given to them on road safety. A driver who gave his name as Mr. Armah, showed his gratitude to Happy FM for making this provision. “I want to thank Happy FM for this beautiful initiative and I promise to heed to all the advice given by these experts”.

Programmes Manager for Happy FM, Mr. Emmanuel Akrumah was thrilled at the level of engagement at the Neoplan station.

“The Happy on Wheels initiative gets better after every edition. I am pleased with the turnout of drivers at the maiden edition of the Happy FM’s Drivers Summit. I also want to appreciate all the experts who enlightened the drivers on road safety. As a station, we really have our listeners at heart and since we know that festive seasons are characterized by road accidents, we thought it wise to sensitize people on the need to be safe our roads”, he said.

He disclosed that the ‘Happy On Wheels’ that took place at the Neoplan station was the last of 2019. “However, next year will see a revamped ‘Happy on Wheels'”, he added.

The ‘Happy on Wheels’ is a programme targeted at promoting community engagement by directly engaging loyal listeners of Happy FM in their communities.
