Happy 98.9 FM begins 2024 Salah Food Fest Inter-Zongo Cooking Competition in Kasoa

Happy 98.9 FM, Ghana’s number one radio station, is set to begin the 2024 edition of the most anticipated inter-zongo cooking competition, the Salah Food Fest.

The 2024 edition begins in Kasoa on Saturday, 1st June, as the initial preliminary round. This contest will feature teams from Tuba, Kasoa, Abeka, and Sabon zongos, competing to determine which team will represent their community in the final contest.

The Salah Food Fest is a cooking competition between zongo communities across the country, aimed at fostering unity, celebrating Eid al-Adha, whilst showcasing the love and camaraderie within the zongo communities.

The first episode of this year promises some exciting activities with Kasoa’s very own Original Shana performing live, and serenading patrons to some groovy music.

Contestants for this year’s competition were engaged by Kwabena Boafo on Happy98.9FM’s Nsem Pii, and expressed their eagerness and elation towards the culinary competition. Representatives for each group were present to speak on why they stand a chance of winning.

Team leads of Tuba, Kasoa, Abeka, and Sabon zongos, expressed confidence in winning the contest, highlighting some rice based dishes to be prepared with Fortune rice. Dishes promised by contestansts included; the popular Muslim delicacy, Waakye, Lagba, Tuo Shinkafa and a lot more.

The stews and soups to be prepared will have Tasty Tom Enriched tomato mix and their Tasty Tom Pepper & Onion Tomato Seasoning.

They pledged overwhelming support from their home teams who will be present to cheer them on for gold.

Kwabena Ampong , Programmes Manager of Happy 98.9 FM, described the Salah Food Fest as a celebration of the diverse culinary traditions of zongo communities and an opportunity to display and foster unity and love among Muslims.

The 2024 edition of Salah Food Fest is sponsored by Tasty Tom, Frytol, Fortune, Nkulenu, Chocho and Henos Energy.
