
The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) has successfully restored power supply following a system disturbance that affected multiple regions across Ghana on the evening of Thursday, April 3.
GRIDCO in a statement indicated that, the incident, which began at 20:09 hrs, was triggered when the Tafo-Nkawkaw transmission line experienced a fault, leading to a cascading effect where adjacent transmission lines also tripped.
Areas affected included some parts of Accra, Kumasi, Sunyani, Techiman, Bui, Tumu, Sawla, and other parts of Northern Ghana”.
The statement further indicated that, GRIDCo’s System Control Centre (SCC) swiftly initiated efforts to stabilize the power system.
Restoration of electricity to affected areas progressed systematically, and by 22:57 hrs, full supply had been reinstated.
GRIDCo has apologized to the public for any inconvenience caused and reassured consumers that steps are being taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
