Head coach for Ghana Premier League(GPL) side Tamale City, Hamza Mohammed, has disclosed that players who sustained injuries from the unfortunate incident that occurred after their game against Aduana FC are receiving treatment whilst four have already been discharged.
The incident occurred after the GPL Matchday 25 between Aduana FC and Tamale City FC (outside the park) played on April 2, 2023, where some fans of the home team(Aduana FC) allegedly attacked the team bus of Tamale City.
This incident has been condemned by football-loving Ghanaians and other stakeholders.
Speaking in an interview on Happy FM about the incident, the coach for Tamale City, Hamza Mohammed narrated how their team bus was attacked in Dormaa after their match week 25 game against Aduana Stars.
”We have just left the hospital and the players who got injured are currently receiving treatment while the ones with minor injuries have been discharged,” he told Ohene Bampoe Brenya on Happy Sports.
“The incident is just unfortunate. It all began on the pitch then we were escorted to our car when we sat down if you know Dormaa it is very close to the dressing room where the buses are. When we sat in our car and they started throwing stones. Five players were injured four are minor one player when they were throwing stones glass cut his eye. He had four stitches but his condition is fine this morning. We reported in Sunyani and they got a referral because our budget is low we couldn’t sleep in Sunyani,” Hamza Mohammed disclosed.
The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association has ordered a temporary ban on Aduana FC from using the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park as its home venue with immediate effect.
The decision is in accordance with the GFA Premier League Regulations Article 14(2) which states inter alia “the GFA may order the closure of any league center where the safety of clubs, Match Officials or Spectators cannot be guaranteed.
Meanwhile, Aduana Stars emerged 1-0 winners over Tamale City and stretched their lead at the top of the table to 44 points, three ahead of second-place Bechem United.
