GPLonHappyFM: Derby weekend as Hearts play Great Olympics, Ashgold face Kotoko

Great Olympics star, Gladson Awako, is confident his side can pick all three points against Hearts of Oak in the Accra derby on Saturday.

Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics face-off in this matchday 11 fixture to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium.

This fixture is very crucial for the future of both clubs as they are currently separated by a point with Hearts on 16 points and are placed second with Olympics on 15 points and currently on seventh.

The two Accra-based teams have been impressive in the ongoing season with Hearts unbeaten in their last four games under Kosta Papic whilst Olympics coach Yaw Preko is yet to lose a game since taking charge of the club.

Speaking ahead of the big game on Saturday, Gladson Awako, who has been the standout player for the ‘Dade boys’ said they are going to approach the game in a way to frustrate the Phobians and win.

“We are going in to get the three points against Hearts of Oak on Saturday. They will be coming in for the win but we are not going to allow them to play their game. We will be ready and we hope to replicate what we did against Kotoko to Hearts on Saturday.”

Olympics coach Yaw Preko is expecting his team to come good against his former club.

“Hearts of Oak are playing very well and they have a good team. We are going to see a beautiful game and I want my boys to play well and make us proud”, he said in an interview with Odiasempa Kwame Oware on Wamputu Sports on Happy 98.9FM.

Hearts have been boosted with the return of Umar Manaf who missed their last clash against Berekum Chelsea due to yellow accumulation.

Manaf has been one of the key players for Kosta Papic’s side in the ongoing season.

AshGold vs Asante Kotoko

Kotoko have won this fixture 10 times out of 25 meetings with the Elephants recording nine wins with six draws in the process.

Kotoko would be looking to bounce back from their catastrophic loss against Aduana Stars in their last outing at the Accra Sports Stadium.

What makes this clash more crucial is that both teams are currently on 16 points and a win for either side could take them top of the league.

Karela United vs Medeama

Karela United vs Medeama will also clash in the West side derby in this matchday 11 fixture at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park.
Karela will be hoping to extend their lead on the table with a win in this crucial encounter.
They are unbeaten in at home in the ongoing season.
