
Asante Kotoko recorded their first-ever win at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park against Karela United on matchday 13 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors secured a 2-0 win over the League leaders at their own backyard.
It was Karela United’s first home defeat as well as their second in the ongoing season.
Karela started the game on a good note but missed a lot of chances to score the first goal in the opening minutes of the game.
Imoro Ibrahim broke the deadlock with his strike in the 36th minute, as Asante Kotoko took the lead.
Kotoko held on with their lead intact before the end of the first half.
Kwame Poku made it 2-0 for the Porcupine Warriors with his seventh goal of the campaign in the 62nd minute after a nicely worked goal.
Speaking to the media after the game, Karela United head coach Evans Adotey said, the defeat is painful to accept and he will never forget as his side’s invincibility at home have been broken.
Asante Kotoko coach Johnson indicated his side were prepared for the game against Karela United.
“It was all about hard work and determination. We were prepared for the game against Karela United. Now we are at the top we will try to maintain our position”,
The Porcupine Warriors are currently on top of the league table after this win.
