GPL: Match Preview- WAFA vs Asante Kotoko

West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) will lock horns with Asante Kotoko at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope in match day eight of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League on Wednesday 5 February, 2020.

The Academy lads are without a win in their last two games at home against Hearts of Oak and Liberty Professionals.

WAFA after their defeat to Liberty at home returned to winning ways and picked a win against Great Olympics on match day seven at the Accra Sports Stadium. while Asante Kotoko were held to a 1-1 draw by Liberty Professionals at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium

The Red Bull Arena has been a difficult ground for most Premier League teams to take points in recent times and Kotoko will have to adopt a strategy to beat WAFA at their own backyard.

The last meeting between these two sides ended in a draw.

WAFA have already lost at home this season to Liberty Professionals on match day seven.

Asante Kotoko can take a cue and pick their first win over WAFA at the Sogakope park in the league.

Meanwhile Coach Maxwell Konadu named a 20-man sqaud for the trip to Sogakope.

Kotoko have been handed an injury boost with the return of Maxwell Baako and Abdul Ganiyu ahead of the game.

The Porcupine Warriors after last Sunday’s result against Liberty Professional dropped to the fifth position with 13 points and will be searching for a win in this fixture against the academy lads.

WAFA are currently placed seventh on the league log with 12 points.

A win for the academy lads will see them unseat Kotoko from their position.

WAFA coach Prosper Narteh is confident his side will pick a win against Asante Kotoko in this fixture.

“Psychologically my boys are okay and have determined to bring back to glory days back to Sogakpokpe, he said in an interview.

“It’s unfortunate we’ve dropped five points in our last 3 games but I can tell you we are back on track.

“I expect all football loving fans troops to Sogakpokpe tomorrow and I can assure them of beautiful football tomorrow.

Asante Kotoko is a big club, we accord them with that respect but for the 3 points, it’s for us(WAFA)

It will be a tricky encounter for Maxwell Konadu and his players against this WAFA side.
