Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold will renew their fierce rivalry when both teams clash in the Ashanti derby on Sunday in match day ten of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League(GPL).
Sunday’s showdown comes on the back of important victories chalked up by the two sides.
Fourth-placed Kotoko defeated Dreams FC 1-0 at Dawu, while second-placed Ashantigold beat Liberty 1-0 at Obuasi.
The game comes off at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and will be played behind closed doors due to Asante Kotoko’s five home game ban which ends after this match.
In the last five matches played in the league Asante Kotoko has recorded three wins and two draws (W3 D2) while AshantiGold have recorded two wins, one draw and two defeats (W2 D1 L2).

In the last meeting between the two sides in the Ghana Premier League AshantiGold defeated Asante Kotoko 2-0 in the 2017/18 season.
Asante Kotok head coach, Maxwell Konadu speaking ahead of the game says he will map a strategy to beat AshantiGold.
“We will meet as a technical team and map out the strategy we are going to deploy against Ashgold,” he said
“We saw them against Hearts [in matchweek eight] and if they play the same way, I think we have an idea of their strategies and systems.”
Referee Daniel Laryea has been appointed to officiate this tough fixture and he will be assisted by Paul Atimaka as assistant line one, Emmanuel Allou Tebson and Maxwell Hanson as fourth referee. A.S Seidu will serve as the match commissioner.
