Government has announced plans to restart the reconstruction of the Anlo Afiadenyigba to Havedzi road in the Volta Region, following the allocation of over 2.4 billion cedis to the Ministry of Roads and Highways.
The 10.3 km road project, which began in 2013 under the NDC administration, stalled after 2016 despite reaching over 70% completion.
The poor condition of the road has caused significant hardship for residents and drivers, with a recent tragic incident involving the death of a minor highlighting the urgent need for action.
During a field visit to the Volta Region on March 16, 2025, Roads Minister Kwame Agbodza assured the public that the government is committed to completing the project.
He emphasized that funds earmarked for road construction will be utilized effectively to ease the burden on Ghanaians.
“We have gone there, and the engineers and everybody have resolved that we are going to re-assess and deploy a contractor to complete that section through the Lagoon all the way”.
