Gender Minister, Cynthia Mamle Morrison has revealed that the government of Ghana will provide free meals to all head porters within the lockdown cities throughout the stay-home period.

During government update to the nation on the partial lockdown, she said, “We currently have about 15,000 that we are going to cater for. There is going to be enough food and water. We have people cooking for about 6000 of them daily. The food we are going to provide is going to be a hot meal. We are also providing 15000 sanitizers.”

She made this known after the police at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region have intercepted two cargo trucks which were transporting over 70 head porters, popularly known as kayayei, to Walewale in the North East Region of Ghana.
