Al Wahab Farouk, a Sports consultant has called on the government to support clubs during this coronavirus outbreak.
The Ghana Premier League has been suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak which has seen clubs struggling financially and calling for financial support from the government.
Al Wahab indicated football clubs fall under Small Medium Enterprise (SMEs) in the country and government should also come to their aid.
Speaking on Happy Sports with Ohene- Bampoe Brenya on Happy FM he said, “If there is a stimulus package available football should also be considered”.
“The Ghana Football Association led by Kurt Okraku should not delay and petition the government for support. Football is also considered as a Small Medium Enterprise (SME).The clubs are owned by individuals who produce players for the national teams.
“The clubs have been through difficult times during the Anas exposé and currently there is another setback due to the coronavirus outbreak.
“Kurt Okraku should immediately arrange a meeting with the Minister of Youth and Sports and roll out their challenges to them”, he added.
