Gov’t scraps two public holidays, creates a new one and renames founder’s day

The president Nana Addo led government has scrapped African Union (AU) and Republic Days as public holidays, replacing them with Constitution, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial and Founders Days.

January 7 is being earmarked as Constitution Day, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial and Founders’ Days will be celebrated September 21 and August 5.

This bill was laid in Parliament on Wednesday 12 December 2018.
