Executive Director of CBI Ghana Limited, Mr. Ernest Mintah has asked the government to halt the licensing of permits to companies that want to set up cement processing plants in the country.

According to him, this will protect and encourage the growth of existing cement processing companies.

“If the government continues to bring in new players the whole industry will be at risk of survival. We are already facing a depreciation of currency for a major ingredient we import of which we are not able to pass the pricing onto the market” he said.

However, Mr.Mintah noted that going forward his outfit is looking at expanding varieties of cement unto the market and also to educate the public and government on the use of cement for concrete roads.

He called for a collaboration between producers and the government on how to come up with strategies that work best for their survival.
