The Honourable Minister of Education Mathew Opoku Prempeh has announced that Government has introduced teacher reforms to ensure an improvement in the learning outcomes in the country
In a speech at the inauguration of the Governing Council at the University for Development Studies he said
‘’At the centre of our march towards improving learning outcomes in this country, government is determined to ensure that the teacher is equipped. It is on this basis that we are pursuing a number of teacher reforms’’
He mentioned two of the reforms that are currently operating; namely the licensure of teachers and the upgrading of Colleges of Education to University Colleges of Education which award a 4-year B.Ed programme as the minimum qualification to teach in Ghana.
He added that the licensure of teachers was introduced in 2018 to ensure that teachers meet the standards to remain relevant and deliver quality learning outcome.
