The government of Ghana has compensated over 500 people whose properties were damaged during a rock blasting operation in Buduburam. The exercise, conducted by Nag Fairmount Construction Limited as part of the Kasoa-Winneba road project, caused widespread destruction.

The blast, which occurred in October 2024, damaged several properties, including shops along the Kasoa-Winneba Highway. Flying rock fragments destroyed the roofs of buildings, resulting in significant property damage. Tragically, three lives were lost, and many others sustained injuries.

In an interview, some residents who received compensation expressed disappointment, stating that the amount provided was insufficient to cover the damage caused by the explosion. However, others expressed gratitude to the government for fulfilling its promise and offering some support to help replace their lost properties.

Although some beneficiaries expressed dissatisfaction with the compensation amounts, Solomon Darko Quarm, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Gomoa East, confirmed that the government also provided inconvenience allowances to those affected.
