The Secretary-General of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) Richard Akpokavie is attending the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Secretaries Generals’ meeting in Lilongwe, Malawi.
The hardworking GOC scribe is among high-profile African personalities that will discuss crucial issues relating to developing sports in Africa as well as strategize on how to mobilize resources for marketing African athletes.
The two-day event which started on Monday November 6, 2018 will also reflect and evaluate the level of progress made in terms of the execution of the subject from the 2017 edition under the theme; ANOCA Plan 2020. There will be follow ups, reviews and implementation on agreed policies.
The Secretaries Generals will also exchange ideas on a wide range of topics of general interest to the umbrella body.
Mr Akpokavie travelled to Malawi with the 1st Vice-President of the Ghana Olympic Committee Paul Atchoe, who doubles as the Chef de Mission for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
In addition to members of ANOCA, this year’s meeting is being attended by delegates from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The seminar gets full funding from ANOCA and Olympic Solidarity.
Malawi first hosted it in 2006 which took place at Ryalls hotel in Blantyre.
