Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Manager at Nestle Ghana Limited, Deborah Kwablah, has urged Public Relations (PR) professionals to focus on creating a system of shared values rather than concentrating on solely Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Citing the sustainability process employed by nestle in their production process, she stated, “We create a system of shared values and that is part of CSR. We believe when we do that, we are more sustainable. We use maize in producing cerelac, ensuring that the supply keeps coming and getting the quality we need for the production of baby food is critical to us.
Nestle supports maize farmers with inputs, agronomy practices, harvesting and post harvesting transportation, clean and others as this fuel their business and success.
With Nestle Ghana having operated for over 64 years, and hoping to exist for a longer period, it pursues sustainable business ventures and has integrated sustainability as a core part of their business.
During a PR dialogue organized by Global Media Alliance to celebrate World Public Relations Day (WPRD) on the theme; ‘The Evolution Of PR: Shifting Skillset Required Of Today’s PR Professional,’ she charged PR professionals to start looking at “sustainability in the space you’re in. Simply ask yourself what can help the business to be sustainable.”
She described PR as more than support function to growing to become a core function. “PR is a true business partner in some organizations and our values must be felt.”
Madam Deborah Kwablah shared these insights in panel discussion during a World Public Relations Day (WPRD) celebration organized by Global Media Alliance (GMA) at the Holiday Inn, Accra discussing the theme; ‘The Evolution Of PR: Shifting Skillset Required Of Today’s PR Professional.’
With the 2022 theme of the WPRD centered on the tenets of Trust, Truth and Transparency, Global Media Alliance (GMA), an Integrated Marketing Communications firm with a firm grip of Public Relations industry marks this celebration with a series of activations, geared at promoting PR in Ghana.
GMA leveraging on its immense resource (digital, human, traditional) organized an event not to only rededicate itself to the ethics of PR, but also educate its publics and other industry players on the relevance of PR and new-emerging trends to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in the space.
