GMABC has dedicated the month of May, to have in-depth discussions with resource persons on all issues that bother on Health and Sanitation, and its impact on the Ghanaian economy. This forms part of the company’s themed month series started earlier this year.
The month long celebration and education which is seen as critical, especially in a period where the world fights the COVID-19 pandemic was launched today on the Happy Morning Show, by a member of the Executive Office of the group, Manasseh Ampofo Kwafo.
Speaking with host Samuel Eshun on Happy98.9FM today, Manasseh noted, “we mostly downplay how dependent the growth and advancement of world economies are on the physical and mental well-being of a country’s Human Capital. If we have gotten any proof to support this, then the COVID-19 pandemic tells it all. The pandemic has shown us how important our health is as a country. With China, Ghana and some other strong economies taking a huge hit after the pandemic broke, we have learnt to prioritize our health both personally and collectively as a nation. And that is why our focus is on Health and Sanitation for this month”.
On his authority, the company has dedicated all her media platforms; Y107.9 in Accra, Y102.5fm in Kumasi, Y97.9fm in Takoradi, Happy 98.9FM in Accra and e.tv Ghana to promote this campaign. And will also supplement the work of the stations with its digital and social media platforms to promote good ‘Health and Sanitation’ in Ghana.
He further explained that the month will see sub themes on a weekly basis focusing on various aspects of Health and Sanitation.
He said, “For the four (4) weeks in May, each week will be dedicated to a particular subject area in the Health and Sanitation sector of the country. In week one (1), we will focus on the history of Health and Sanitation in Ghana and how far the country has progressed in the sector”.

He noted that the second (2) and third (3) weeks will be geared towards personal health and general wellbeing of individuals with special attention to the right exercises, drug abuse & its effects, and sanitation and environmental health (personal hygiene, recycling) respectively.
“The fourth (4) and final week will be specially dedicated to all the health workers and institutions for their selfless acts of sacrifice and care amidst the COVID-19 outbreak in Ghana,“ he said.
