Former Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder, Gladson Awako has revealed that he was sacked from the club because the hierarchy believed he was becoming too powerful.
According to Awako who joined the Phobians from their rivals Accra Great Olympics, the hierarchy of Hearts of Oak were not entirely happy with his growing influence in the club and decided to cut him lose.
He said he didn’t commit any offence or disrespect any club official to warrant such hatred.
“Hearts of Oak and Olympics are two different clubs. One of the clubs is political, and the other is not. It got to a time when they thought I was becoming too powerful, so they had to get rid of me, but there was no problem with me.
“The leadership roles I got from the coach gave me power, and they felt if they should allow me, it wouldn’t help most of them, so they got rid of me,” he said.
