The Director General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare has stated that, the GHS will soon implement an incentive system themed, ‘The Carrots’.
Speaking on ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ on Happy 98.9 FM, Dr. Nsiah-Asare stated that, “the incentive system will be meant to attract young doctors in accepting posting to rural communities”.
He revealed that, doctors who accept postings to rural areas will be paid some extra amount of money aside their salaries.
According to him, the incentives may not be the extra monies only but, the GHS will liaise with the District Assemblies where these doctors will be posted to provide them with comfortable apartment complexes and also give them the opportunity to pursue post graduate degrees earlier than the prescribed time.
