Ex-President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated that he is the best candidate for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) going into the 2024 election year.
Mr. Mahama, on Thursday, March 2 launching his campaign for the NDC Flagbearership race at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Cedi Auditorium declared Ghana’s current state as its most dire level and for that matter, the party cannot risk presenting a candidate without the wherewithal to confront the challenges head-on.
“Ghana at this time does not need a ‘try-me-too-leader,” he said on Thursday, March 2 as he officially declared his candidature to lead the NDC into Election 2024.
“[Ghana needs] a leader who accepts responsibility and works to fix the problem and not one who shifts blame to others.”
Mahama alluded that trust in the Akufo-Addo-led government has been eroded due to the economic mismanagement resulting from incompetent, inefficient leadership and general non performance he described as abysmal.
“Our present state and its effect on our people trouble me a lot,” he said.
The former President said he has over the period monitored the country’s problems and “of course, I know how to deliver that badly needed change,” he added.
The flagbearer-aspirant insisted that “We will not run a government of slogans, instead we will run a government of action.”
For the NDC Flagbeareship race, Mahama is opposed by former Finance Minister, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, former Mayor of Kumasi, Kojo Bonsu and businessman, Ernest Kwaku Krobea as NDC personalities to be elected going into the 2024 elected.
