Charles McCarthy, Editor of the Hawk newspaper, expressed his strong criticism of Ghana’s constitution, labeling it as bogus.

Speaking on the Happy Morning Show with Sefa Danquah, he reiterated his belief that nothing can be rectified in this country.

He mentioned that even at the age of 67, Ghana feels like “we’re sitting in a canoe and paddling backwards,” constantly regressing instead of progressing.

“The Ghana national anthem has 3 stanzas, yet we were deliberately taught only 1 stanza. This highlights the corruption within our country. Defending the country today can lead to arrests, and we believe that things will go well under these circumstances. We are in an era where the gov’t grants a private individual a tax exemption of over $4 million to construct a hotel for their children and family.”

He futher voiced his concerns about the lack of coverage for dialysis under the NHIS and the imposition of taxes on essential medical facilities.

“It seems like apart from changing opinions and getting paid, there’s not much else we can do because we can’t change them. There seems to be a lack of willingness to correct things in our country. But if we are serious and determined to defend Ghana, we can make a difference,” he said.
