Marketing and Entrepreneurship lecturer at Garden City University College, Tweneboah-Koduah has revealed that many Ghanaians are interested in starting businesses of their own.

Encouraged by the great ideas citizens have, he believes that starting up and making the business flourish is now an issue for most Ghanaians.

He made this sentiment known on the Happy Morning Show (#HappyHMS) aired on e. TV Ghana and Happy 98.9FM. “The entrepreneurship spirit is that every Ghanaian wants to do something. You go to our markets and towns and you see people with solutions to problems,” he told Sefah-Danquah who sat in for regular host Samuel Eshun.

According to him, Ghanaians are now finding solutions to problems. He cited an example where people get shy to drink coconut hence the use of a straw to make it more appealing. “People buy food items from the market and trucks but they are usually unable to convey these food items to their cars or shops. Due to this, vendors mostly offer to help in conveying their goods and this should tell you that Ghanaians always try to find solutions to problems,” he said.

He added that studying the Ghanaian behavior it is seen that majority are willing to do something of their own, “but the issue now is what type of business can be done and how can they do this business to make it commercially viable to sustain them in the future,” he revealed.

Concluding, he said a lot of Ghanaians start businesses but it doesn’t last the test of time. He advised that getting a good business coach or someone who is always succeeding in their business will help in knowing the do’s and don’ts in a successful business.
