Ghana’s boxing hopefuls, known as the Black Bombers (men’s team) and Black Hitters (women’s team), were unable to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics at the recently concluded World Qualifying Tournament held at the Indoor Arena – Huamark Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
All seven Ghanaian boxers who participated fell short in their qualification bids.
This outcome marks the end of Ghana’s journey in boxing for the Paris 2024 Games. Ornella Sathoud, representing Ghana in the Women’s Middleweight -75Kg division, lost her match via a unanimous points decision (0-5) to Shierleidis Orozco of Colombia.
Despite the disappointment, Ornella Sathoud on her facebook timeline reflected positively on her experience.
She viewed her participation in both the Golden Gloves tournament representing Buffalo and the World Olympic Qualifiers for Ghana as valuable parts of her ongoing boxing journey.
