Managing Director of the Ghana Water Company Limited, Dr. Clifford A. Braimah has announced a partnership with Bui Power to implement mini-hydro at designated stations to reduce the cost of purchasing electricity.
He stated that further assessments at some regional stations have revealed the potential for the Ghana Water Company Limited to generate approximately three megawatts of power.
Dr. Braimah explained that the collaboration with Bui Power aims to develop these systems, allowing the company to become the off-taker of the generated hydroelectric power.
‘’we can generate about three (3) Megawatt of power for our systems and we are collaborating with Bui Power to be able to develop them, so that we will be the off-takers’’.
Speaking at the Accounting to Customers press briefing in Accra, Dr. Braimah emphasized the importance of this collaboration to the development of the company.
He noted that, once the collaboration becomes successful, Ghana Water Company Limited would be the off takers of hydro power.
He assured that, this would help reduce the cost of energy used by the company.
‘’We all know that, hydro power is one of the cheapest that you can have, and that would bring the cost of our energy down and also give us broad reliably energy’’
